How to continue

We start off by imitating others.
We continue by imitating ourselves.
Self-parody is unavoidable.
But, I suppose, the aim is that the slight differences in the imitations will eventually lead to a departure or tiny development.
Things only move in tiny increments.
Don't trust the sudden breakthrough.
Nothing can be rushed.

Making room for Echo.

I've just sketched Echo in.
I'm not sure how she is actually going to fit.
I might have to lower Narcissus and move Echo over to the left.
Where their heads connect is going to be the central point of the composition.
I want her to possibly thread an arm through his and reach toward the reflection.

This was the first picture I did as a sort of study before I decided that I wanted Echo to be included.
The painting at the top is what I'm working on at the moment.

the watery third

Narcissus and Echo on the hill.
I like the mirrored arcs that the two figures create.
I'm thinking that I'd like to make the reflected face Echo's.
Narcissus is looking at Echo rather than himself.
